Web-Lectures
A web lecture is the live recording of a lecture. This will take place in a standard lecture space while you deliver your lecture as normal. Web lectures are usually used to support students, enabling them to revisit a lecture if they didn't grasp something first time around or if they were unable to attend.
Web lectures present you with entirely fresh and novel opportunities to make your material more interactive, whilst making the best possible effective use of your lecturing time. Students can view (parts of) the web lectures, allowing you to work with them during contact hours on what they have learned in these web lectures
For students
A web lecture is not intended to replace the live lecture for students. Rather, web lectures offer a complementary service to students:
Students can repeat the material if they find a subject or course challenging.
Students can repeat the material as additional preparation for exams.
Students who are unwell or cannot attend the lecture can still follow the lectures.Students abroad can also follow the lectures.
Students who may not have the level of language can watch the lectures at their own pace.
Disabled students can also follow the lectures.
For lecturers
Web lectures also offer a number of advantages for lecturers:
You can use web lectures for (re-)use in other courses.
You can use web lectures for showing lectures by guest lecturers, researchers or experts in various courses. This allows students to benefit from material from a range of sources, whilst on the other hand you, the lecturer, will have more time during contact hours with students to discuss the material more deeply.
The web lecture system offers the possibility of adding additional sources, background information, comments, questions and feedback
